I haven’t been creating widgets lately because most themes will run shortcodes in text widgets. (If they don’t a simply change to the theme’s functions.php corrects that.)

You raise a good point. (Thanks.) In Schedules & Scoreboards it is easy to create a schedule with only those two columns simply by adding the right arguments to the shortcode. Unfortunately, in League Manager you can’t control the appearance of columns with shortcode arguments, you have to do so with the Settings (for a particular sport). That creates a bit of a sticky wicket, because when you change the settings for a sport, they apply to all displays (league and team schedules in this case, for that sport). So if you have schedules for some sport with lots of columns on pages, you can’t have schedules for the same sport will only two columns on the sidebars. 🙁 I will probably add a simple widget back eventually.

Here’s is a work-around that should work for now.

1. Choose a sport you will never use, and create the settings for the 2-column schedules for that sport. (Did you know? You can also create new sports, like maybe “Football-Widget”, using a filter provided for that purpose.)
2. Create a league in that sport.
3. Assign all the teams of interest to that sport. Teams can be in multiple leagues. For example, Alabama can be in both the SEC, SEC West and “Widget” Leagues, while Texas can be in the Big-!2 and “Widget” Leagues.
4. Add a text widget with the schedule shortcode for The “Widget” League. That schedule will show only the two columns, and all the teams in the “Widget” league.
