Using: WordPress 6.3.1 running Sports Club Lite theme. MSTW League Manager 2.10 and MSTW League Manager Add-ons 2.10. I have no other plug-ins on the site.
I can’t get the records to udpate or even show up in the backend.
I have the check box “standing are auto-filled…” and I have the appropriate game set in each area.
I use the CVS system to load the games and teams and have tried adding scores, but that doesn’t show up in the update records area. I’ve tried manually adding scores in the game manager section, but that didn’t work.
I was hoping to get all the stats once the scores were entered, e.g. Runs Allowed (GA), wins, losses, rank, etc.
Is there a specific way that scores need to be entered? or should I try an older version of the plugin?
Thanks in advance.
September 8, 2023 at 2:36 pm #7191Hi James,
Thank you for posting here and for providing so much ‘diagnostic’ info, it helps. First, there’s no need to use an older version of the plugin. I’m not 100% certain of what’s going on but here’s a start:1. There are basically two ways to enter standings data:
a. Enter each team’s record (only choice without the add-ons, but it works)
b. “Auto fill” the standings based on game results. These are mutually exclusive, you have to pick one.
Sounds like you have selected ‘auto fill’, so you can ignor ‘records’ and simply enter the game results. Both work (https://dev.shoalsummitsolutions.com/lm-league-standings/)
My first question would be have you entered game scores for the appropriate leagues and have you MARKED the games as FINAL?
Second, you are not going to see anything in the records on the admin pages.
Third, have you set up a standings shortcode? If not, you need to do that to see the standings with auto-fill. If so, please provide the exact incantation you are using for the shortcode and a screen shot of the result.Hope this helps. Let me know.
-MarkSeptember 11, 2023 at 1:10 pm #7192Thank you for that. I’m having a hard time accessing your site. It seems to be redirecting.
With the “final game” box checked, the standings are showing on the front end with the short code: [mstw_league_standings league 8u season=2023] as shown on https://nergee.com/standings/ where I’m testing/developing.
The numerical rank is not showing, e.g. 1,2,3 etc. but I believe this is because of the built in ranking system. Because the game is baseball, it’s too common for all the teams in a division to have an equal number of wins.
Is there a code snippet I could add using the Code Snippets plug-in
(or anything similar) to make the ranking system tiebreakers 1. Goals allowed (GA) and 2. Goals scored (GS)? Those options don’t come up when trying to select tie breakers.September 12, 2023 at 9:10 pm #7193So I’m going off of memory here but I believe the RANKING only takes effect when you are using RECORDS and not AUTO-FILL. AUTO-FILL works off the game results and RANKING plays no role there. As I recall, RANKING allows one to make the standings however you want them manually when the available options just won’t work. (There have been some strange cases over the years! LOL) Then you have to update the standings manually, which kinda sucks, but you can do whatever you want with them.
BTW, anything involving Goals/Points scored is being avoided in the US to discourage any reward for “running up the score”.
As far as the code snippets, the place to look for what’s available is under FILTERS in the documentation. I don’t think other options can be added to what’s there; that wouldn’t be simple. BUt I like the idea!!
I hope that helps a little.
