Hello from Germany,
I just bought the Add-Ons. Great help for me. Now my question. Is there a solution for Google EVents and does MSTW support it with it´s structure?https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/event?hl=en

RalfFebruary 19, 2020 at 5:59 pm #5869Guten Abend Herr Dorendorf,
Danke fur ihre Frage. I’m not sure what Venues has to do with your question. Maybe I’m missing something?? BUT … I have used Google Calendars on a number of sites. They are very easy to embed into your site and it’s theme templates. SO … I made the decision long ago that a “calendar” is very different from a “schedule”. And there are a number of good plugins that do calendars much better than I ever could. (Much like spreadsheets … I’ve been asked to incorporate a number of spreadsheet concepts, but I’m not writing the next Excel!) Bottom line: There is no support in any of the MSTW plugins for Google calendars and their events. That said, I’d be interested in knowing what you are trying to accomplish exactly. Display Google Events on MSTW Schedules? Display MSTW Games on Google Calendars? Google has an API for Calendars, but last time I looked, it required that the Composer Dependency Manager be installed locally. If you are using a shared host, you may or may not be able to do this.

-MarkFebruary 20, 2020 at 4:30 am #5870Hey Mark,
thank you for your answer. No, I was wrong when I wrote venues. Of course I mean the events in the schedules. SO, yes, there is an google api, but is there a way to connect it with MSTW Plugin? What I see is, that there is not the structured data what google needs.Greets
RalfFebruary 20, 2020 at 7:25 am #5871Coding would be required. Certainly some to actually communicate via the API, and probably to configure the commas channel – URLs, passwords, etc. That’s doable. Composer is the bigger issue to me. I don’t know how that gets installed and what the plugin needs to do to use it. Personally, I’d just embed the calendar(s), but you haven’t told me exactly what you are trying to do with combining them.
-MarkFebruary 20, 2020 at 11:55 pm #5879Hello Mark,
yep, I think so. And I´m also not the best coder, but I think you have more experience than me. When I read the API description for my understanding there is no password needed. Google will find the well formed code at it self, if it´s linked in a sitemap or anywhere else.
So I think we are talking about different directions. What I mean is providing the source for google to read the schedules of a season. Google reads this and publishes it in the public search result in Top of the Results. e.G you are searching for LSU Football in Google Search, Google will show the next Events in a special Container in top of the results. All what is needed for this is bringing the queries in a Google readable structured data. Again the link: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/event?hl=en
If MSTW can provide this it will be a big progress in SEO for every user.
I´m using MSTW since 2018 and bought now the Addons and donate it to my Football Team the Oldenburg Knights. I ever was imressed of the work, but I also mist this function and a little bit more in responsebility in the layout. But this is just some kind of luxery.
At this point of development I must say it´s impressive what MWST can do for a teampage.

RalfFebruary 22, 2020 at 5:06 pm #5921Hi Ralf,
I had not seen this before, so I took a little time to look at it. Pretty cool. I think it would take more time than I have to implement it. It would take some thought. For example, I can see how upcoming games fit into their taxonomy, but I’m not sure how game result fit.More importantly, I’m not sure the average user of the MSTW plugins really cares about their games popping up in a Google search or cares very much about increasing the SEO for their site. They aren’t commercial ventures and the people who need to know, know about their sites.
The bottom line is that my time is better spent on paid work. So if and when someone wants to contribute real money to this feature, I don’t see it happening.

February 24, 2020 at 12:12 am #5931Hi Mark,
if you want really perfect can link also the other stuff to their API. Here is an example for soccer in Germany: https://www.google.com/search?q=vfb+oldenburg&rlz=1C1GCEA_enDE842DE842&oq=vfb+oldenburg&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l7.4270j1j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
I´m on your side when you say “Job first”. Coding is a hobby! I´m just take care of the Football Site https://www.oldenburgknights.de and that´s my donation to the club.
I think for the first time a code snippet with the markup will help the community. Maybe it is a good idea in future, to make a AddOn. I think 10 Bucks more is really okay for this great function.

RalfFebruary 29, 2020 at 4:19 pm #5943Hi Ralf,
Thanks for the input. Your site looks great. I’ll reconsider the Google API if and when time and money permit.
Regards,
